Alexander Snape is a composer and sound engineer based at his studio in North Wales.
Alexander studied at The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) and graduated with a First-Class Degree in Sound Technology (BAHons). He competed for and won the Sennheiser Scholarship for his year group.
An experimentalist at heart, Alexander continually seeks innovative and expressive ways to infuse creativity into the music he works on.
His diverse skillset allows him to compose, produce, record, mix and master productions across a variety of genres.
As a recording and mastering engineer, Alex helped create the soundtrack for The Gardening Club, a musical which premiered in the West End and was nominated for “Best Music” alongside several other nominations for the Fringe Theatre Awards.
As a composer, sound designer and mix engineer, he has created and implemented music and sound design for film and video games, and is skilled in the different audio pipelines involved, such as Dolby Atmos, Unity, Wwise.
Alex’s other collaborations has seen him record, mix and master various projects for musicians, helping them realise their vision and has supported local businesses with composing music for their commercial and portfolio material.
Internationally, he has solo-travelled to South America to field record a vast array of sounds and takes inspiration from both natural and man-made sound in the music he creates.
He believes, “It’s always important to listen – really listen – to how every sound makes someone feel, even the most everyday sound. Music is more than a piano or a violin; it’s organising sounds to drive emotion.”
